This study aims to enable Korean language learners to smoothly communicate with native speakers by comparing the morphological/syntactic functions and semantic/pragmatic functions of periphrastic construction out of the expressions of Korean completive aspect. First of all, we checked the necessity of Korean completive aspect study in Chapter 1 and reviewed the researchers. As a result of the review, it has been found that the completive aspect expression education has been shown in the Korean language education study, and that the Korean language textbook does not provide an explanation of the completive aspect expression, so it is necessary to supplement it. Thus, Chapter 2 reviewed the definition and classification of aspect in the existing researches, and then selected the subjects of this study as ‘-go malda’, ‘-eo naeda’, ‘-eo beorida’, and ‘-eo chiuda’. Chapter 3 examined the morphological/syntactic characteristics. First, after examining which predicates would all sorts of expressions of completive aspect be combined with and the combination aspect of endings was examined. by using the Yonsei Spoken and Written Korean Corpus(YSWKC), this study aimed to find the tendency of the aspectual meanings of those predicates and endings. Next, the combination aspect of negative expressions was examined. Chapter 4 examined the matter of having the subject’s will, the result of completion, the speaker’s attitude and the contexts of the use of discourses as the semantic/pragmatic characteristics. Chapter 5 compared the ‘-go malda’ and ‘-eo beorida’, ‘-go malda’ and ‘-eo naeda’, and ‘-eo beorida’ and ‘-eo chiuda’ in pairs. The ‘-go malda’ and ‘-eo beorida’ showed similar combining predicates to each other. The combination aspect of pre-final ending, combination aspect of negative expression, and semantic/pragmatic functions showed noticeable differences. Especially, the ‘-eo beorida’ showed the higher use distribution than the ‘-go malda’. The ‘-go malda’ and ‘-eo naeda’ were used in the opposite relation to each other in the actual register. The ‘-go malda’ mainly reveals the regretfulness and sadness toward the result of act while the ‘-eo naeda’ reveals the speaker’s joy and accomplishment toward the result of act. As the ‘-go malda’ shows the negative result of an act in which the speaker’s will does not work, and the ‘-eo naeda’ shows the positive result of an act in which the speaker’s will does not work, both of them could be combined only with ‘mot’ negative expression. Lastly, it is about the ‘-eo beorida’ and ‘-eo chiuda’. As the expressions with similar meanings of the main predicate, especially, both ‘-eo beorida’ and ‘-eo chiuda’ could express the positive attitude and negative attitude of speakers. However, the ‘-eo chiuda’ could be only combined with predicates like ‘meokda(eat), palda(sell), galda(change)’, so that it would be the expression that should be taught at the last. Finally, Chapter 6 wrapped up the discussions by summarizing the contents discussed earlier, and then suggesting the research tasks in the future.
