This study reviews Piaget's theory which has been unraveled position in the theories of cognitive development. Then, recently being spotlighted, Vyotsky's theory is reviewed that is opposite side of it as a theoretical perspective. This study also compares Piaget's theory with Vygotsky's theory in many ways. Especially, they are compared with the background of theory, the process of forming knowledge, the relation between thinking and language, and the definition of intelligence. In conclusion, this study compares both theories in regard to educational suggestions.
