This paper intends to grasp the problems with educational practice in use and to propose possible improvement directions. For this, it examined educational practice teachers' and students' understanding of the practice in middle school and also investigate the actual status of operation of the practice. This paper made the research questions as follows: What do educational practice teachers think of operation of the practice? What do students think of the practice? How do the schools the teachers and the students belong to operate the practice? Are there any ways to improve to make operation of the practice fruitful? 450 teachers of 14 middle schools in urban areas of Gyeongsangnamdo, and 486 students were encouraged to replay to the questionnaires. The research results were as follows: Educational practice teachers thought that practice had more negative influence on the overall school education than positive. The reasons for this opinion were: the students' living attitude relaxed; and the practice did harm to the class of a subject. Some teachers thought that practice had more positive influence on it because it was a good chance for them to think about or develop new better teaching methods and it made class environment bright. On the other hand, many students thought that practice had more positive influence because the class environment became new and they felt the school life pleasant. Those who evaluated practice negative replied that the class environment became inattentive. However, more students replied that they were not damaged by it. It was found that most of the teachers had not taken any training of how to teach the practice. It was found that a practice teacher was selected by the department in charge regardless of the teacher's intention, and that the teaching plans were made by the department in charge too. As a way to improve operation of practice, many respondents agreed with: extensive designation of practice cooperative schools; increase of allowance for teachers; training for teachers; and production and supply of practice guideline by subject and school year. In relation to the method of 'extension of practice period', the number of pros and cons were similar, and regarding the method of 'giving promotion points to all the teachers', there were more cons.
