The purpose of this study is to provide fundamental information for the development of educational program with regard to desirable sexual behavior by researching into the correlation between self-assertiveness, self-esteem and sex knowledge, behavior of female college students. To this effect, this study is showing an analysis of the relationship among general characters, sex knowledge, sexual behavior, self-assertiveness and self-esteem of college women. The objects of this study were 300 women in college(M colle. and K Univ. located in K area), and I explained to them the purpose of the study from Oct. 20, 2005 to Oct. 31. And thereby, I handed out structured questionnaires of 300 copies and have applied the information through 275 questionnaires to this study except 25 cases which had insincere answers. The research tool was structured questionnaires consisting of 65 questions including 15 items of college students' sex knowledge as well as measuring tool of behavior and furthermore, in order to understand related factors, Rathus's assertiveness scale(1973), Rosenberg's self-esteem scale(1965 ; adapted by Choi, Eun Jeong in 1998) together with general characters of subjects, and so on. The collected data was analyzed by the SPSS/PC program using actual number, percentage, T-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient. The result of this are as follow. 1. General characters of respondents to the questionnaire are as follows ; Their average age was 20.4 year-old with 201 students(73.1%) from science department. And 84 students(30.5%) believed in Buddhism and 64.7% or 178 persons were living together with their families. 220 students(80.0%) spent less than KRW300,000 a month with 196 subjects(71.3%) getting their spending money from parents and 171 persons(62.2%) answered that their parents have normal attitude toward sexuality. In addition, 128 women or 46.5% told that they are equally paying for dating costs when going out with their boyfriends. 2. As a result of analyzing sexual knowledge and behavior of college women, as many as 241 students(67.0%) received sex education on pregnancy and also, 106 persons(38.5%) gave a positive appraisal of sex education. And the research showed that the largest number of women or 88 respondents(32.0%) gained sex knowledge from their boyfriends as well as 134 persons(48.7%) got a glimpse of sexual knowledge while in middle school. Besides, 26 women(78.7%) told that they are still seeing their boyfriends after having sexual relations. And 15 persons(45.4%) expressed that they were concerned with possible pregnancy after sexual relations with boyfriends. 3. In comparison with the difference of self-esteem according to general characters of college women, the older they were, the more their self-assertiveness was increased(F=6.04, p= .003) and the self-esteem of respondents from science department was higher than other students(p= .026). 4. A comparative study of the difference of self-assertiveness showed that persons who were working part-time had higher self- assertiveness(p= .045). And women who were paying for as much dating cost as men had much self-assertiveness (p= .004) as well. 5. The research showed that a negative correlation(p= .000) has been demonstrated between sexual knowledge and self-assertiveness, self-esteem of college women. However, that a positive correlation(p= .000) has been demonstrated between self-assertiveness and self-esteem. 6. Whether having sexual experience or not, the difference of self-esteem was not significant, while respondents having sexual experience held up more self-assertiveness(t=-2.551, p=.001). In addition, the relationship between physical touches and self-esteem appeared to have little influence on each other. However, the statistics showed that the body-touch of college women is associated with self-assertiveness.
